Editing I am available to work in-house or remotely for publishers by advance arrangement, and on a project basis for individuals. The nature of editorial work, of course, varies widely, from substantial rewriting to proofreading. If you have a project that you think might benefit from my input, please send along the details and we can discuss what would be most suitable. I have particular expertise in children's books and can provide valuable advice on such issues as story length and complexity, language level, novelty formats, market information, et cetera. For picture and novelty books, I can offer individuals a two- to three-page report containing assessment, feedback and recommendations on any proposal or manuscript under 1,500 words, at a flat rate of £40 for one book. Extra books £20 each. Ghostwriting For several years I have been writing professionally in the voices of classic characters ranging from Wallace and Gromit to Rupert Bear. As a result, my writing style is extremely versatile and can be adapted to suit almost any project – including yours. Perhaps you have an idea for a character and a story but have never quite found the right way to turn them into a book? I can bring your ideas together and breathe life into the whole. An increasing number of ghostwriting agencies are to be found online, and some of them are very good, but before you sign up it's often hard to tell who will be working on your material. I work for myself, so you know who and what you are getting from the start. Consultancy I can provide valuable feedback and editorial input on most kinds of writing for children – if you send me something that's outside my range of expertise, I'll tell you and hopefully give a recommendation for a suitable authority in that field. For publishers, I can be particularly valuable in helping you to understand the novelties market and/or the special requirements of series fiction and brand/media tie-in publishing. Other Fees As I am an individual rather than an agency, I only take on selected projects and can tailor my fees as appropriate in each case.
