About Me
Professional Background
In the past 10 years I've worked either in-house or freelance for Egmont, Dorling Kindersley and Titan, amongst others. Currently I'm working part-time as a Senior Editor at HarperCollins, and writing a children's series for fiction packagers Hothouse (details TBA watch this space).
Until 2006 I worked full-time at Egmont, as editor on such projects as the best-selling Return to the Hundred Acre Wood and The Rupert Bear Annual (where I wrote the signature rhyming couplets). Prior to that I worked at Titan on publishing for adults and teenagers, focusing on famous brands such as Star Trek and Star Wars.
As well as editing I have anonymously written or ghost-authored dozens of books, ranging from Thomas the Tank Engine novelties to Wallace and Gromit gift titles. Total sales are comfortably over two million.
I blog about writing, editing and the publishing business.
I'm always open to new projects, and pride myself on being easy to work with. If you would like to talk about a possible writing or editing commission, please email me.
Personal
Outside of my work in publishing, I do spend quite a lot of time reading, particularly literary and science fiction/fantasy novels. My central London flat is full of books, though there is a certain amount of space given over to my collection of hippos and a tribe of Cabbage Patch Kids, and sometimes also to my boyfriend, who does the HTML for this site.
I enjoy chocolate, thumping music of the Sisters of Mercy vintage, and Russian culture. I once translated War and Peace for fun.
